The Entrepreneurs Community gives incoming ASU freshman access to entrepreneurship from their very first days at ASU. Selected students live together in the Residence Hall, attend classes together and work with like-minded students. Community activities, business tours, etiquette luncheons, and more are incorporated into this community. This living/learning community is for any incoming freshman who dreams of starting their own business or non-profit organization. More.

Students compete for cash prizes in an elevator pitch style competition. This event is held annually on the same day as the Entrepreneur Summit.

Appalachian State partners with Clemson University, the University of North Florida, Universitè Catholique de Louvain (Belgium), Universidad de Alicante (Spain) and Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg (Germany) to develop and deliver a variety of student and faculty exchange programs related to entrepreneurship.
Two dozen rising high school seniors spend three weeks each summer learning about business and entrepreneurship, developing business plans and visiting businesses in North Carolina, New York City and Washington, DC.

The Kellar Radio Farm System Institute is an intensive 10-day summer program, started in July 2007, designed to attract, train and create opportunity for talented students who have a passion for the broadcast industry and ownership. Juniors and seniors with a communication major or minor who are accepted into the program stay on campus and participate in activities in and around the Boone, North Carolina campus.
The first Institute (2007) was open to Appalachian students only, but in the future the program will expand to students from across the state.
The Kellar Radio Farm System Institute prepares students to excel in entry-level positions upon their graduation and to better ensure they get a start in and have a successful career in broadcasting. The students work through the intensive institute to gain a greater understanding of each aspect of the industry including:
“Broadcasters at the highest level understand the importance of bringing new talent into the industry, even so, we have never developed an organized and systemized farm system until now,” stated Dan Hill AKA Dan Vallie, Director of the Institute, who now serves as general manager for WASU, Appalachian’s radio station. “I am excited that Appalachian State has embraced this innovative concept and is teaming with the industry to find, train, coach and develop fresh young talent in every area of broadcasting. I expect other leading broadcasters will want to support this innovative radio farm system as well.”
