The Power of E - Freshman Entrepreneur Seminar

These small seminar-style classes are taught by experienced faculty who are committed to helping freshmen make the transition from high school to college by developing creative and critical thinking abilities, cultivating effective communication skills, and introducing students to a variety of research tools and methods. Freshman Seminar also provides students the opportunity to make connections with faculty and other students, to discover the wide range of resources Appalachian provides its students, and to become part of the university and local community.

The Power of E (Freshman Entrepreneur Seminar) - No matter what college major you’re considering, have you ever imagined starting or running your own business or non-profit organization? The Power of E is an introduction to entrepreneurship and will help students in practically any major or area of study. We will look at the basics of how to come up with ideas and how to bring them to life. You’ll make close friends, experience exciting out-of-the-classroom activities, and develop a more independent, creative way of thinking. We’ll read several interesting books, including “Student Entrepreneurs” and “If Not Now, When?”. Like all freshman seminars, there’ll be research and writing—in this class we’ll use projects to explore how your own personal interests could create a new career!
