2007 Carole Moore McLeod Entrepreneur Summit recap…
This year’s 6th Annual Carole Moore McLeod Entrepreneur Summit was the most successful yet! We had over 50 business owners from the southeast participating via panel discussions and solo presentations. These professionals shared their business expertise with over 400 students, faculty, staff and community members on topics ranging from Green Industries, Family Owned Business, Customer Service, and Financing to Women in Uncommon Industries, Marketing, Start-up Challenges and more!
Students, faculty and staff who attended the summit represented almost every department on campus, and students and teachers from 3 local high schools (Avery, Ashe & Watauga) were present as well.
86% of participants who answered our survey questions said their attendance made them more likely to become an entrepreneur. 100% said they would recommend this event to someone else.
Quotes from participants:
“I already knew I wanted to be a small business owner but going to this helps give new ideas that are real life examples. Not text book answers.”
“I liked how the entrepreneurs who spoke were able to entertain questions from the students face to face.”
“I really appreciated the opportunity to hear the experiences of the various entrepreneurs directly, and ask questions, as opposed to just reading small business case studies in a textbook. I also enjoyed the fact that there were so many speakers present at the same time; this was much more effective than seeing individual presentations throughout the semester.”
“This event was very informative for our students. It gave them a perspective that they do not normally receive in the classroom. We will definitely bring our students back to this summit in the future.”
So thanks to everyone who attended and we hope to see all of you back again next year! Stay tuned for more information…
