Recap of the 2008 Extreme Entrepreneurship Tour

Over 200 students, faculty, staff and community members attended the 4 hour event. Key note speeches, networking opportunities, workshops, and question and answer sessions made the EET a resounding success. Cici’s Pizza of Boone generously donated a portion of the pizza, salad and desserts.

Extreme Entrepreneurship Tour - February 29th, 2008

Young entrepreneurs from all over the USA come to Valborg Theatre on campus this Friday, Feb 29 as part of the Extreme Entrepreneurship Tour. The EET is open to everyone, free of charge, and is guaranteed to be highly motivational for any student, faculty, staff or community member who dreams of pursuing their own business or wants to strengthen their knowledge and skills to become a successful employee in today’s workforce.

The Extreme Tour brings the country's top young entrepreneurs to college campuses to spread the entrepreneurial mindset. Speakers are young entrepreneurs who've made, earned, and sold their companies for millions and made a huge impact before the age of 25.

Alex K. Tchekmeian (21) is the president and founder of AKT Enterprises, comprised of sixteen unique companies, ranging from merchandising and web development utilities, to the development of live music venues and bars. Alex's drive and ambition in the entertainment field led to the development of AKT Enterprises. With a rapidly increasing client base of over 2,500, AKT Enterprises has been named one of the fastest growing, most innovative companies to develop in today's entertainment industry. With sales in excess of $1.2 million in 2007, Alex is confident that he can double, if not triple, sales within the next year.

Nick Nanton, Esq., also known as "The Celebrity Lawyer", has been named “Best of the Bar” and has been referred to as “One of Orlando’s Top 10 Young and Powerful”. Prior to becoming an attorney, Nick spent more than a decade immersing himself in the entertainment industry as an award winning songwriter and producer, and surrounding himself with celebrities. He has worked on projects and negotiated deals, from large scale events to reality television shows, involving celebrities like Bill Cosby. Nick is a voting member on the annual GRAMMY awards served as CEO of Cinemark Music Group LLC. Cinemark Music Group is a subsidiary of Cinemark USA, Inc., one of the largest motion picture exhibitors in North America with 3,288 screens in 33 states and internationally.

Sheena Lindahl and Michael Simmons are co-founders of Extreme Entrepreneurship Education, co-authors of The Student Success Manifesto and All or Nothing, Now or Never and were recently named by Business Week as some of the country's top 25 entrepreneurs under 25.

Arel Moodie, from Brooklyn, NY is one of America’s top young speakers and has been featured on Fox News and in US Today and in college he started his own successful Internet Company, www.placefinder.com, a website that helps college students find off-campus housing, roommates, and sublets.

Jon West & Chad Ledford, founders of 3tailer, a niche eCommerce company with multiple retail websites operating out of Charlotte, NC, graduated from ASU in 2006.

Chad Michael, a 2003 ASU graduate, double majored in Finance and Banking and Risk Management and Insurance, founded his current business, ArborCare, which specializes in all facets of tree care, as a freshman. ArborCare is now the largest tree care company within 60 miles of Boone.

Jason Berry, a 2002 ASU graduate, knew from age 12 that he wanted to own his own outdoor outfitters business some day and is now general manager of Footsloggers in Boone and Blowing Rock.

It has never been easier or more important for students to start a business and think entrepreneurially! In a world of rapidly evolving technology and globalization, being able to leverage the entrepreneurial mindset regardless of career path is critical to success. EET introduces all students to this new life framework and inspires them to plan, prioritize, and pursue their own vision.
