SBA announces workshops in western NC for February

Outreach planned for Asheville, Marshall, Hendersonville, Boone, Waynesville, and Lenoir ASHEVILLE, NC – The U.S. Small Business Administration today announced its February schedule of workshops taking place in various cities and towns in western North Carolina.

Mike Arriola, Senior Area Manager for the U.S. Small Business Administration based in Asheville, will detail various SBA programs and services designed to help small businesses in the region start, develop and grow.

Arriola will showcase “SBA Programs and Services” for startup or existing small businesses in a workshop at the Asheville-Buncombe Tech Madison campus in Marshall on February 5. Arriola will follow up with a workshop on the SBA Community Express Loan Program, featuring smaller business loans with no collateral, at AB Tech Madison on February 7.

On February 8, Arriola will showcase SBA financial assistance programs during Small Biz 101, an all-day event coordinated by the Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute at the J.E. Broyhill Civic Center in Lenoir.

In “Business Planning and Entrepreneurial Development Resources from the SBA” Arriola will provide an overview of the business plan process and detail the SBA’s resources for business counseling and training in the western region. This workshop takes place at the Watauga JobLink Center in Boone on February 14 and at the Greater Henderson County Chamber on February 15.

On the morning of February 19 in Waynesville, Arriola will take part in a workshop on federal procurement opportunities which features a discussion by Mark Mills, Procurement Technical Assistance Counselor for North Carolina based in Hickory. Mills will repeat this session in Sylva in the afternoon. Both events are sponsored by Mountain BizWorks.

On February 25, Arriola will showcase the SBA Community Express loan program at the Asheville Mall. This is an actual loan application session featuring small business loans up to $25,000 with no collateral. Interested persons should bring a photo ID and a blank check drawn on a business account for deposit of loan funds.

All of the above events are free of charge and open to anyone interested in starting or expanding a small business in western North Carolina.
